The Mid-Air Tail Enclosure is a 4,500 sqft moveable structure sized to enclose the tail of a 747 Jumbo Jet. When closed, it is over 80’ wide and 75’ tall.
The structure rides on rail car trucks and tracks embedded in the concrete apron. It is covered with 4” insulated metal panel siding and will have a rubber roof.
The enclosure will allow Mid-Air to perform additional maintenance on the aircraft.
The project was designed by Almy & Associates Consulting Engineers from Utica, NY.
