Overview

Mitch Hawkins joined Gaetano Construction Corporation with over 30 years' experience in the construction field. Estimating, project management and field supervision are his key roles as Superintendent.

He also insures compliance with OSHA mandates and federal, state and local zoning ordinances while maintaining job schedules. In addition, Mitch is the communication link between the Project Manager, owner and all subcontractors while supervising on-site workers.

Along with excellent supervisory skills, Mr. Hawkins' abilities include coordinating jobs with subcontractors and other prime contractors. His projects range from small commercial renovations to large multi-unit facilities.

Key Projects

Mr. Hawkins has completed over 20 projects valued from $300,000 to $21 million.

SUNY IT Quad C, Marcy, NY.  (2013 - 2014) 

This $3.1 million project included the site & utility relocation package for the new QUAD-C project at the SUNY Institute of Technology. The project consisted of relocating Tele/Data lines in preparation for the new QUAD-C Nanotech Research Facility, and providing new storm, water, sanitary and electric utilities to the building site.

FSLH Center for Rehabilitation & Continuing Care Svcs., Utica, NY.  (2011 - 2012

This multi-million dollar expansion project includes the renovation of 20,000 SF of space and the creation of nearly 40,000 SF to house inpatient rehabilitation services as well as an outpatient dialysis unit. Project Value $13 Million

Acacia Village Ph 2, Utica, NY. 

A $20 million new Design-Build 3 story, 75 unit senior apartment building connecting to the existing Acacia Village at the Masonic Care Community in Utica. 

St. Elizabeth Medical Center, Utica, NY

A $13 million expansion including a new 2 story addition with a new Kitchen on the 2nd Floor and new addition to the ER on the 1st Floor.  Also included was a renovation of the old Kitchen for the new ER Urgent Care area, the old ER was renovated for the new Cafeteria & Servery and the old loading dock area was relocated to the new loading dock addition as well.

Matts Brewery, Utica, NY

A $5.0 million, reconstruction of canning area following 2008 fire and construction of 28,000 SF warehouse and renovations.

Rome Lab, Rome NY.

A $21 million, 110,000 Square Feet addition to the existing Rome Lab for the U.S. Air force. There are high security clearance areas with raised access floors for communications. Two multi-level auditoriums, and a high tech library are also included in the addition.

Nye Toyota, Oneida, NY

$2 million.  Looking more like a cathedral than a car dealership, this unique structure has an all glass front and sides which taper up 50' to the underside of the building. It has a wood frame with exposed wood-laminated cathedral arches to form a super structure. The inside consists of a large showroom on the first floor with two wings, one on each side for car repairs and a car wash, with offices in the back half and second floor of the building.
