Overview

Scott Major started working for Gaetano Construction as a Carpenter in 1999 became a Foreman in 2005 and has been a Superintendent since 2007.

Scott has gained knowledge and understanding of the intricate and specialized HVAC & Electrical systems in hospitals and health-care facilities, allowing him to organize and coordinate all phases of the project in a professional and efficient manner.

Scott's hands-on ability to layout and construct from concrete foundations to interior finishes, make him a well-rounded choice for Superintendent.

Mr. Major's accomplishments as a superintendent include several small projects and most recently a $4 million Elementary School renovation and a $2 million Multi-Phased Hospital renovation.

Key Projects

Conkling Elementary School  Utica, NY

This "Major" renovation converted the existing 3-story Utica City School Districts Administration Building back into a 76,000 SF Elementary School. The Project consisted of 36 new classrooms, 2 new cafeterias, new library, state of the art Computer Classroom and all new Mechanical and Electrical systems. The buildings 400 pre-existing wood windows were replaced with new energy efficient windows. All the interior wood doors were replaced and the existing wood casework and trim was refinished to its original condition. A new stage front was constructed in the auditorium to compliment all new stage equipment including new theater rigging curtains. Typical new classrooms received new VCT flooring, smart boards, new marker and tack boards, new unit ventilators, new acoustical ceilings and all new lighting. The existing gymnasium remained however the existing gym floor was refinished, new court lines were painted, and all new gym equipment was installed as well as a new vertical Handicap lift to allow handicap accessibility to the gym floor.

Exterior improvements included the replacement of all sidewalks along with the construction of a new rear bus loop and playground pad. A new set of concrete exterior entry stairs were constructed and the entire exterior brick facing was restored. A new EPDM roof system was installed over the entire building and all new exterior trees and shrubs were provided.

Lutheran Care, Clinton, NY  New Front Entrance Facade  Three-month project restoring existing building back to original 1920's look. Included roofing, EFIS, stained concrete, gothic railings, new terraced plantings, entrances, stairs and sidewalks.
