Steve Perez has over 30 years of jobsite supervision experience in the construction industry, having supervised projects ranging in value from $600,000 to $11,000,000. As General Superintendent for the Charles A. Gaetano Construction Corporation since 2001, he has responsibility for nearly 20 superintendents who manage our project sites.
Mr. Perez is a "hands on" manager who stays in daily contact with project teams. His top priorities are insuring that work flows smoothly and efficiently, that properly skilled tradesmen are assigned, that project drawings and specifications are in compliance, and that safe working practices and OSHA guidelines are always in practice.
Our clients know they can rely on Mr. Perez to coordinate activities in a manner that causes the least disruption to ongoing services at their facility, while insuring construction is completed on time. His skills were especially evident in his expert handling of several years of hospital expansions and renovations.
Mr. Perez has supervised a wide range of projects throughout his career including major retail centers, educational facilities, financial service operations, distribution centers, and many different types of health care facilities.

Glenwood Shopping Plaza, Onieda, NY
$9.4 million, 230,000 square-foot structure includes a 65,000 square-foot department store, a 42,000 square-foot grocery store, six secondary tenants, a movie theater and 32 other smaller retails shops. Owned by AMA Realty of Utica, NY, the strip shopping plaza and 1,200 car parking lot were completed entirely under our contract in under six months.
Bus Industries, Oriskany, NY
$3 million; 100,000 square-foot bus manufacturing facility includes high-bay assembly production and production space. Foundations were placed during two record-cold months, necessitating frost removal to a depth of over three feet and the use of heated weather enclosures.
McCraith Beverages, Oriskany, NY
$3 million; 64,000 square-foot, award winning building from the American Concrete Institute for it's unique aesthetic concept, structural design, innovative use of material and quality of installation.
St. Luke's Memorial Hospital, Utica, NY
$7.2 million; two floor addition on existing two story structure includes seven in-patient labor, delivery and recovery rooms, (2) operating suites and support areas on the fourth floor. Third floor area includes Endoscopy, a Cardiac Catheterization Suite, and The Centrex Laboratories.
Faxton Regional Cancer Center, Utica, NY
$5 million expansion and renovation project increased the current cancer program by adding 22,000 square-feet to the existing building. The lobby is a unique glass design with formal gardens, fireplace, cozy chairs and sofas. There is a full service library, a large radiation and chemotherapy area as well as approximately 8,000 square-feet of private physician's offices.
The Joan Weill Adirondack Library, Paul Smith's College, Paul Smith, NY
$10 million; 45,000 square-feet. This was designed in keeping with the natural beauty of the Adirondack Park. The structure incorporates over 630 tons of native stone along with finishes that include massive laminated wood beams and exposed wood decking.
St. Luke's Residential Care Facility, New Hartford, NY
$11.5 million; 112,000 square-feet. This 160-bed Nursing Home was built in 40-room sections around two enclosed courtyards. Facilities include dining and living room spaces, a Chapel, gift shop and hair salon.
