On September 29, 2006, the Arts Guild of Old Forge broke ground on the new $9 million dollar
Arts Center. This facility lies on 8 acres and will be approximately
27,000 square feet. The building will be a model for renewable energy and the registration
with the U.S. Green Building Council for LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design )
certification will make ours the only LEED certified building in the Adirondack Park.
The project includes use of solar panels, geotherm wells for heating, specially treated lumber,
and energy friendly lighting fixtures.
The Arts Center will have a multi purpose auditorium that will seat 200. This space
will bring in touring events, children's shows, concerts, musicals and will be available for conferences,
lectures and receptions.
