Charles A. Gaetano Construction Corp. was nominated for (2) recently completed projects at the Central NY Business Journal's "A Time to Build" Awards ceremony in Syracuse.
The event presented awards to the top construction projects in Central NY.
Gaetano received an award in the Commercial category, as First Runner-up for the Matt's Brewery, Utica, NY - Fire Reconstruction, New Warehouse, and Keg Cooler project. Three of Gaetano's construction projects have been nominated for the "A Time to Build" finalists. They include Cayuga Medical Center Southwest Addition, American Alloy Steel Building and Matt's Reconstruction Warehouse & Keg Cooler. An event will held April 29th at the Holiday Inn, Liverpool, NY where the winners will be announced.
Gaetano Construction is pleased to announce that Anthony Obernesser has been promoted to Senior Project Manager. Obernesser has been with the company since 1992 in roles of Estimator, on-site Project Manager and currently Chief Estimator. He takes over for John Sabotka who will be retiring and working part-time as a Project Manager.
Anthony Obernesser is a graduate of Mohawk Valley Community College and SUNY IT with a degree in Civil Engineering. Anthony resides in Marcy with his wife Dorothy and their two children.
Gaetano is also pleased to announce that Michael Bushardt has been promoted to Chief Estimator. Bushardt has been with the company since 1999 in roles of Estimator and on-site Project Manager.
Michael Bushardt is a graduate of Utica College with a degree in Construction Management. Michael resides in Ilion with his wife Jennifer and their two children.
Charles A. Gaetano Construction Corp. has been awarded the 2009 AGC NYS Safety Excellence Award. The criterion for this award is very strict and each company applying must have outstanding safety programs to be considered. The accomplishment of winning the award makes a profound statement about our commitment to making safety a priority. We are extremely proud of our current 85 field employees and thankful to them in applying our safety standards on each and every project. This is our 6th Safety Award; we are proud of our track record and will continue to be an industry leader in Safety.

The Charles A. Gaetano Construction Corporation has an obligation to enforce the existing New York State Clean Indoor Air Act on our job sites and to enforce our Customer's Smoking Policies on our employees and our subcontractors' employees.
The Clean Air Act applies to job sites once the roof structure is on the building and in all office and storage trailers, as well as lunch and break areas. Certain campuses may have more stringent requirements that must be followed.
New job site signs indicating the policy have been provided for the building entrances and job trailers.
The newly completed construction of American Alloy Steel, 650 Harbor Way in Rome, NY celebrated its ribbon cutting October 2, 2009.

Twenty one Delhi Students visited our office on Monday, September 21st. They sat with various project managers for an overview of how each department works and then visited (2) jobsites, SUNY IT & Masonic Boiler House.
On July 19th 2009 we held our annual Safety Picnic at 12 North Sports Bar in Marcy. This event is held to thank our superintendents and field employee's for working safe and enforcing our safety program.
In January of 2008, we relocated from Charlestown to our new home at 258 Genesee Street in downtown Utica. We now occupy the completely renovated 14,000 square-foot Mezzanine level.
All field employees have recently completed the O.S.H.A 10-hour safety training course.
Also, all superintendents will complete OSHA 30-hour course by summer of 2009
Charles A. Gaetano Construction Corp. of Utica is celebrating its 25th year as a franchised builder of Butler Manufacturing Company's pre-engineered buildings.
Gaetano became a Butler franchisee in September of 1982 and has completed nearly 2.5 million square feet of projects throughout central and northern New York in the past quarter century.
Amount the major clients and projects for which Gaetano has constructed Butler pre-engineered buildings include Northern Safety Co. headquarters, Meyda Tiffany warehouse and offices, Utica Converters Manufacturing expansion, Tri-Valley Beverage beer distribution facility, the Carbone Auto's Harley Davidson dealership, the Fountainhead Group Warehouse expansion, and Fiber Instrument Sales headquarters. Gaetano has also been involved in many other local and regional projects featuring Butler Manufacturing Co. pre-engineered facilities.
New projects currently underway include a 98,000 S.F. expansion to the Nirvana Water plant in Boonville, a major expansion to PLC Trenching's maintenance building that Gaetano completed in 2006, and a new warehouse and office for the Masonic Care Community. Most projects are delivered on a design-build basis, which now has expanded to conventional buildings and renovations as well.
In recognition of the 25-year service milestone, David Kleps, Vice-President of Gaetano's Design-Build/Butler Building Division, accepted an award at a recent Butler sales meeting in Orlando, Fla. Kleps has managed the Butler business since its inception.
"Our organization is very proud of the long-term relationship we've built with Butler Manufacturing as well as our distinguished association with them as a quality organization that provides a quality product," Kleps said. "We deeply appreciate their recognition of us as a respected business partner and look forward to continuing this exclusive relationship with them for many years to come."
Gaetano is also designated as a Butler Career Builder, which recognizes them as having a long-term commitment to selling and constructing Bulter's products.
